Do Good!
That Woman is a Success . . .
Who loves life and lives it to the fullest; who has discovered and shared the strengths and talents that are uniquely her own; who put her best into each task and leaves each situation better than she found it; who seeks and finds that which is beautiful in all people …and all things; whose heart is full of love and warm with compassion; who has found joy in living and peace within herself.

Donations
Campbell's Soup Labels for Education
Box Tops for Education
General Mills Box Tops for Education program gives us an opportunity to clip and save their box top logos from their products. We donate them to the Indiana School for the Blind so they may redeem them to purchase much needed equipment. The annual deadline for submitting box tops is February 15th. Send your box tops to Stephanie Sheaves at 11117 Ellsworth Lane, Fishers, IN 46038 or bring them to any DG event. For specific product information, click here.
Eyeglasses Collection
The Indianapolis Alumnae of Delta Gamma chapter is actively collecting old glasses for the Lions Club Recycle for Sight Program. Lions help to conserve sight by providing usable eyeglasses to children and adults throughout the world. Donated eyeglasses can help millions to experience corrected vision for the first time, enabling them to read, attend school, gain employment, and take care of their families. Eyeglass recycling is one of the Lions’ most popular activities. Although the program was officially adopted in 1994, Lions have been collecting glasses for more than 80 years. Our chapter is proud to assist the Lions by collecting used glasses. Send your used eyeglasses to Stephanie Sheaves at 11117 Ellsworth Lane, Fishers, IN 46038 or bring them to any DG event.
VisionWalk
For the past two years (2008, 2009) we have formed a team for VisionWalk in Indianapolis which is sponsored by Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB) www.blindness.org. Their mission is compatible with our focus to support and bring aid to those who are blind or visually impaired. The FFB raises funds through its over 47 VisionWalks (www.VisionWalk.org) throughout the US each year. The funds are used to directly support research into treatment and cures for degenerative retinal diseases.
In 2008 we learned about the 2nd Annual Indianapolis VisionWalk only two months before the walk was to be held at the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ISBVI). In that time we were able to connect with our collegiate sisters at Alpha Tau – Butler University and Gamma Iota – DePauw University and form a team which including a handful of Indy area alumnae. Even with the late start on the project, we were able to meet our fundraising goal of $1,000 and actually raised over $1,800. Our team t-shirts of bright pink stood out in the crowd and we thoroughly enjoyed the 5k walk through the beautiful grounds of ISBVI.
Planning for the 3rd Annual Indianapolis VisionWalk in late September 2009 started early that spring. In addition to our Alpha Tau, and Gamma Iota members, we reached out to our sisters at Theta – Indiana University, Beta Iota – Purdue University and Gamma Omicron – Indiana State University. We formed our team “Anchored in Sight” early in the spring and started signing up collegians and alumnae to participate.
The Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter became a sponsor and was named on the website for the walk. We ordered team t-shirts, again in bright neon pink, and wore them with pride as we gathered for a pancake breakfast and lots of pictures before the walk with other teams. Our team had just over 200 members, the largest team in VisionWalk’s history in the country. We raised over $4,000 and had another wonderful day of Sisterhood and Doing Good.
During April we began our sign-up for the upcoming Indy VisionWalk on October 2, 2010 at Butler University (new location!). Please sign up today and join our team Anchored in Sight at www.VisionWalk.org.
