President's Letter
Hello DeeGees!
Summer is in full swing, and I hope that you are able to enjoy more time with your family and possibly a vacation or two!
Convention was last month and I can’t believe I’m still not unpacked! It was a real honor being your Convention delegate as alumnae president. I enjoyed meeting other DG’s from our region, as well as a few from other regions. I was able to vote on a few minor Constitutional changes and voted in the next Council. Meals were really the only time to chat with other sisters about what is and is not working for their alumnae chapters. I did get a couple great ideas that I hope to implement in the next programming year.
We did win quite a few awards while at Convention, too! We won one award given by the Fraternity during Awards night – the Five Stars to Alumnae Success Award. This award is given to any chapter that completes programming, leadership and operational requirements. Earlier that day, we also won: Outstanding Philanthropy: Service; #1 Labels for Education; #5 Service for Sight Hours; #2 Box Tops for Education and the Region 4 Award of Excellence. You should be so proud of your chapter! These awards are mostly foundational and have been spear-headed by Linda Young, but it takes an entire chapter sending in labels, box tops and dedicating volunteer hours to make such an impact for our region!
It was announced at Convention that Indianapolis will be hosting the 2012 Convention. I hope everyone will volunteer in a big or small way to help represent the city and our alumnae chapter. Laurie Roselle is having meetings and gathering volunteers to start working on the details. Let someone know if you want to be a part of such a huge honor and opportunity.
Your alumnae board is also planning the next year of events. Let us know if you have anything in particular you’d like to see or help out with. The newsletter should be out the end of August or first of September.
Enjoy the rest of your summer and let me know if there’s anything I can do for you, personally or fraternally.
ITB, LouAnna
